Newborns

Congratulations!

Welcome to the new baby and congratulations to his or her fortunate parents. Becoming a parent is a wonderful experience that adds a challenging new dimension to your life. The physicians at Lynchburg Pediatrics look forward to working with you to make parenthood a most rewarding experience. We are here to provide helpful guidance.

It is normal for parents, especially first-time parents, to have feelings of anxiety about the arrival of an infant. We do our best to be available with a provider on call 24/7 for urgent concerns. After you are discharged, you will follow up with our office within 1-3 days to be sure your baby is feeding and gaining weight well and answer any questions that have come up since they were born.

Our goal is to work with you in seeing that your child prospers physically and emotionally. We want to help you relax and enjoy your new baby. These visits give you the opportunity to get to know us as your pediatrician.

For the first two months, avoid crowded places like supermarkets and church nurseries. Babies are especially susceptible to infections. Postpone visitors for a few weeks. A healthy full term infant can be taken outside whenever the weather permits.

We do require all of our patients to get vaccines and for all newborns to receive Vitamin K at birth. Please click

Do NOT allow anyone to smoke around your baby!
